Innovation Academy Parent Committees

We have a saying in education: a child’s first teachers—their first role models—are their parents. Parents play a major role in the success of their children and by extension the success of our school.

The Innovation Academy has many opportunities for parent involvement. We are currently seeking nominations for parent representation on the following board positions.

Innovation Academy’s Parent-Teacher Association

Innovation Academy is seeking nominations for this year’s PTA President, Treasurer, and Secretary. These board positions are typically a two-year term. Meetings are monthly and virtual.

School Site Council (SSC)

Innovation Academy is seeking nomination for membership in the Innovation Academy’s School Site Council. Our School Site Council (SSC) represents parents, students, community members, and school staff in school governance. School Site Council (SSC) and Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) are comprised of parents, community members, teachers, the principal, and other school personnel. This Council develops, implements, and continually monitors and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement, a documented plan of action to raise the academic performance of students and improve the school’s education program. The SSC is directly involved with staff development planning. These positions on SSC are typically a two-year term. All meetings will be virtual about once a month.

English Learner Advisory Parent Committee

Innovation Academy is seeking a parent representative. Innovation Academy’s DAC/DELAC representative advises the principal and the SSC on programs and services for English Learners. The representative attends a meeting once per month at the district with the school principal. Meetings will be virtual.

MTSS – Multi-Tiered System of Support Parent Representative

We are looking for one parent to be on our Multi-Tiered System of Support Team. The team consists of the principal, our school psychologist, an upper-grade teacher, and a lower-grade teacher. We look at students’ needs and make decisions about student programs and interests for our unique online learning community.

District Advisory Council (DAC)

The DAC is composed of parent and staff representatives from each School Site Council. It meets regularly during the school year in an open public forum to share information, study instructional issues, approve school planning schedules, and make recommendations to the Board of Education on specific items. The meetings will be monthly in person at 6:00pm at the District office.

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The DELAC is comprised of parents, teachers, principals, and instructional assistants representing English Learners. This Committee meets regularly to share information as well as to study issues and concerns related to the instruction provided to English Learners. Parents of English Learners play a strong role in these meetings.

We also need a parent to attend our district’s monthly in-person meetings. The meeting are on a Tuesday from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. For more information http://www.cvesd.org/parents/getting_involved/dac_delac
