Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year

Dear Innovation Academy Elementary School Families,

As we approach the opening of the 2022-2023 school year, I hope this message finds you and your family well. My name is Cindy Orr (Cynthia Orr) and I am excited to serve this community as your principal! If you would like to know a little more about me, please click HERE, which will take you to my page on our school blog. I look forward to connecting with our current families and welcoming our new families.

I know our entire team is ready to welcome our students on July 20th. Below you will find information about the start of school.

This blog is still under construction.

Computer Pick up

All students must use a district-supplied computer for learning at the Innovation Academy. We are offering two times this week to pick up your student’s device. See Flyer above. Here is a link to the release form that will need to be signed in order to receive a device. We will have copies on hand as well. Device Release Form

Virtual Parent Meeting

This Thursday, July 14th at 3:30, we will have a very important parent information meeting about our school. In this meeting, we will talk about our schedules and expectations. If you attended the parent meeting in June at the end of the last school year, this will be a repeat, and no need to attend this meeting as well. I will be posting the recording of this meeting, and you will be able to view it at any time. Here is a link to the Virtual Parent Live Event,

The Office is Now Open

Our school’s main office is now open from 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM, daily. Our office team is processing residency verification, enrolling new families, and getting ready to open the school year. We are available to support our families with questions you may have. Please also be sure to subscribe to our Innovation Academy Elementary School Blog by visiting innovationacademy.edublogs.org,

Residency Verification for Returning Students

All returning families should have received an email notification from PowerSchool to renew annual verification of student residency back in late May/early June. The email comes from “DoNotReply”. If you already completed this process, no need to do anything more. If there is any missing information or paperwork for a residency verification that you already submitted, our office team will reach out to you. If you have not completed residency yet, please search your inbox by searching “PowerSchool” to locate the student specific link and complete the process. Verification of student residency is required for enrollment. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Georgina at georgina.huezo@cvesd.org.

If your plans have changed and your student(s) are not returning to Innovation Academy Elementary for the upcoming school year, please call the office as soon as possible to let us know.

WHAT IS VIRTUAL LEARNING?

Virtual Learning means instruction in which the student and instructor are in different locations. This may include interacting using a computer and communications technology, as well as delivering instruction and check-in time with the teacher. Virtual learning may include video or audio or instruction in which the primary mode of communication between the student and instructor is online interaction, instructional television, video, telecourses, or other instruction that relies on a computer or communications technology. It may also include the use of print materials incorporating assignments that are the subject of written and oral feedback.

  • Synchronous learning is online instruction that takes place in real-time (live) with the classroom teacher and a student or students, including direct and live instruction to students through video conferencing, telecommunications, live interactive chats and discussion forums, whole or small-group instruction, 1:1 conferring, assessing and/or instruction, daily live interaction, and interactive class meetings/restorative circles.
  • Asynchronous learning is instruction or learning that does not occur in real-time (live), including self-guided instructional lessons/activities/modules, pre-recorded lessons, discussion forums, and online collaboration/chats that do not happen live other independent work.
